Hawkins actual politics tend to run to the moderate Team Red side. He is more than willing to pander to the moral rightist or the racial alarmists but seldom if ever votes that way. He positions himself as anti-magic and neutral on the idea of Aliens. The idea of Noble Obligation is to him universally bad. He is anti government regulation unless it is about Human Reproduction. Those wild uteri need to be controlled, and the best way to stop teens from having sex is keep them ignorant, because it has worked so well in the past. Why, such smart thinking has kept Texas 4th highest in number of teen pregnancies nationally!
Hawkins is the senior senator from Texas. He has been in the Senate 20 years having last won reelection in 2009.
Hawkins is remarkable for being the first member of the US government to hire an Ane. He instantly saw the advantage to being able to teleoprt from Texas to Washington DC and back. Funny but that Ane can be like having Jimmy Cricket around. Serious politics happens away from the transportation.

Done. Team Red got spanked as expected. They even lost ground in Texas with Team Purple taking two Congressional seats.
2014 Election[]
Hawkins managed to re-win his seat. Team Blue has been eating everyone's lunch due to the sheer accident of being the party in power when the technology boom happened. The trick is to look progressive enough without alienating the core constituency.
Theodore (Tex) Harris the Team Blue And Team Purple in the person of Robert Corviss, an ARM spillover from Louisiana. Are still in the wings and watching.
With ARM gaining more traction Hawkins is not expected to run again. He did not field a presidential run for '16 as many thought he would.
